JV Youth – About Us
6th – 8th grades
“JV” stands for Junior Varsity and is the nickname we adopted for our group. Our symbol above goes with our theme verse, Mark 1:17, “come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
We meet on Sunday nights 6-7:30 pm and Wednesday nights 7-8:15 pm in the first room of the new building. Leaders arrive 30 minutes before services to build relationships with the students while we toss the Frisbee or football or socialize in the breezeway.
During our services, we learn how to praise and worship God and develop our own personal relationship with Christ. Of course, we also find ways to incorporate fun interactive ice breakers and games.
During the school year, we have one group activity each month outside of main services. We also have separate guys and girls activities each quarter.
During the summer, we alter our Sunday schedules to incorporate an exciting activity and a short devotion.
We go to Camp Snowbird in Andrews, NC usually the 3rd or 4th week of July. Please visit the snowbird website: www.swoutfitters.com for more information. The youth group will offer several fundraisers to help offset the cost of camp.
Jason Sherwin is the JV Youth Pastor. He and his wife, Rene’, have worked in youth ministry for over 11 years. If you would like more information about the JV youth group, please email Rene’ at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 238-3442. You can also click on the link below to visit our JV youth blog. Our blog is updated weekly with pictures, summaries of our recent lessons and upcoming events. In addition to the Sherwins, we have 10-15 other leaders who volunteer their time and energy to invest in the lives of these middle schoolers.
